About Us

The West Dummerston Volunteer Fire Department (WDVFD) is a small rural fire department in southeastern Vermont. WDVFD provides firefighting services and emergency medical first response to the town of Dummerston, which has a population of 1,984 people.  We provide mutual aid to surrounding communities in Vermont and New Hampshire, covering approximately 789 square miles.


There are currently thirty active members of the West Dummerston Volunteer Fire Department. We train monthly to keep members current and we send members to regional fire schools and local course offerings to keep our members trained to the highest standards.


Dummerston, Vermont is located on the banks of the Connecticut River, just north of Brattleboro, VT. Three major thoroughfares run through our town: Interstate 91, US Route 5 and Vermont Route 30. Dummerston is also located in the ten-mile Emergency Planning Zone of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station. We serve our community from two stations, The East-West Rd Station and the Wests St Station.
